As a kid, I grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons - just like everyone else. But in the car, my dad listened to 88.3 KPAC Texas Public Radio. I was having Music Appreciation class with Chopin, Beethoven, Dvorak, etc before anyone else my age! So growing up, I heard the background music in movies and felt the emotions before comprehending the words being said or sung. (I may have listened to some inappropriate music in my youth, but hey! When it's got a good beat!...) Hearing the music first has helped me learn to pick up on the emotions when reading to deliver the correct feeling.
